In 2008 , the very first Lincoln City Reunion was held at Georgia Battle Community Center in Kinston, North Carolina. During the previous months flyers were sent out with the date, time, and location and the organizers waited to see who would show up. They were pleased and amazed to see over 400 people show up for the event.
The idea for the reunion came from Lester McNair, Jr. He had been hearing people talk about a Lincoln City Reunion for many years but had never gotten the word of when or where it would be. He enlisted the help of his sisters, Mildred Brown and Tina McNair, who agreed that we should go ahead and get the ball rolling. Mildred enlisted the help of lifelong friends Eartha Mumford and Reesie Williams who offered their enthusiastic support. The following year, Shelly Dorman joined the group and started the first Lincoln City Reunion T-shirt sales.
This group has organized the reunion in one form or another every year since 2008, including the upcoming 2016 reunion. They would like to thank all those who have pitched in to help because this great event could not happen without the support of the community and our awesome volunteers! Whether you've helped out once or many times, your effort's, time, energy, and monetary support are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for helping to keep this event going!
